Privacy Policy
Effective
Volatus Technologies LLC operates apocryphal.kitchen. This policy describes how we handle information when you browse, request a recipe, submit feedback, sign in, or contact us. For privacy questions or requests, email support@apocryphal.kitchen.
Information we collect
- Account information. When you create an account or use a sign-in provider, we receive information such as your provider account identifier, email address and verification status, display name, profile image, and first and last names where supplied. We store profile edits, linked login methods, account timestamps, and membership or invite records. For email/password accounts, we store a password hash.
- Sign-in and security information. We store sessions, including session identifiers, expiry times, IP addresses, and browser user-agent information where available. We also store verification and recovery records and provider tokens where supplied. OAuth access and refresh tokens are encrypted at rest in the application database.
- Requests and generated content. We process the dish and category in a recipe address, bot-verification results, and generated recipes and images. Generated pages and their original request addresses may be published and retained. Do not put personal or confidential information in recipe requests.
- Recipe feedback. When you submit recipe feedback, we collect your cooking result, optional rating, changes, cooking notes, and whether you would make the recipe again, together with your account, the associated recipe, and submission and update times. Recipe pages display an aggregate count of cooks who report a successful result. You and site administrators can view your individual answers. We may use feedback to improve recipes and the site and for the purposes described below.
- Technical and support information. Our hosting and security services process request information such as IP addresses, URLs, browser details, timestamps, and errors. We keep operational logs and information you include in support messages.
How we use information
We use information to provide and operate the site, authenticate users, manage profiles and membership, generate and serve recipes, deliver account emails, answer support requests, prevent abuse, diagnose problems, and meet legal obligations.
We may use recipe feedback to assess recipe quality, identify useful or popular content, improve generation and recommendations, conduct analysis and experiments, and develop and commercialize the site and other products and services, including paid offerings, recipe collections, datasets, and tools for evaluating or improving generated content.
When you use a third-party sign-in provider, we use the identity and profile information it supplies to create or identify your account, manage sign-in, and link accounts when you request it. The information supplied depends on the provider and the permissions you grant. Account profile information is shown on your account pages and to site administrators; your display name appears in your signed-in navigation.
We currently do not sell personal information or use it for advertising. Any new use must comply with applicable law and provider requirements; we will update our disclosures and obtain consent where required before introducing it.
Cookies and browser connections
We use cookies for authentication and related security. Blocking or clearing them may prevent sign-in or end your session. Bot verification and sign-in providers may also use cookies or similar technologies as part of their services.
Pages load fonts from Bunny Fonts. Pages requesting bot verification load hCaptcha. Your browser connects directly to these services and sends connection information such as your IP address and browser details.
Service providers and sharing
- Cloudflare provides hosting, network security, database and image storage, operational logs, and account email delivery. It processes information needed to provide those services. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy.
- Sign-in providers process authentication when you choose them. We exchange the information needed for sign-in or account linking with your selected provider. Each provider handles information under its own privacy policy and terms.
- hCaptcha processes bot-verification information when you request a new recipe, including browser interactions and network information. Our server verifies the resulting token. See hCaptcha’s privacy policy.
- Bunny Fonts serves the site’s fonts. See Bunny’s privacy policy.
- xAI processes dish/category requests, recipe text, and image prompts to generate recipes and illustrations and organize ingredients. Generated output may be public. See xAI’s privacy policy.
Providers handle information under their applicable terms and policies. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect rights and security, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or transfer of the service, subject to applicable requirements.
Retention and security
We retain account information while needed to operate your account and the service, and recipe feedback while needed for the purposes described in this policy, subject to applicable law. Security records, support correspondence, and other records may be retained for operational, dispute-resolution, or legal needs. Records associated with sessions and verification tokens may remain after they expire. Backups and recovery copies may retain information until they are replaced or expire.
Subject to applicable law and provider requirements, we may create aggregated or anonymized information that cannot reasonably be linked to an identifiable individual and use, retain, and disclose it for analysis, research, product development, and commercial purposes. Such information may remain after your account is deleted. Information that remains identifiable is subject to this policy and applicable law.
We use safeguards such as HTTPS, access controls, password hashing, and encrypted OAuth access and refresh tokens. Providers may process information in countries other than your own.
Your choices and requests
You can edit your profile and sign out through your account pages.
To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information, including account information and identifiable feedback, email support@apocryphal.kitchen. We may need to verify your identity before acting. We handle requests subject to applicable law, including any required retention or exceptions. Public recipes are stored separately from accounts and remain after account deletion. Backup copies may remain until they are replaced or expire. You can contact us about a published page as well.
The site is for people 13 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has given us personal information, email support@apocryphal.kitchen and we will delete it.
Policy updates
We may revise this policy as the service changes. The effective date above identifies the current version. We will provide additional notice or request consent when required by applicable law or provider requirements.
